Packaging Technology Specialist

We have a new role at Valeo Foods for a Packaging Technology Specialist. The role will ideally be based at the Matthew Walker site in Heanor, although we will consider excellent candidates based either in Blackpool or Wallingford.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with NPD, marketing, and suppliers to ensure packaging aligns with product and brand requirements.
• Provide technical expertise on packaging material specifications.
• Approve and maintain packaging specifications.
• Troubleshoot packaging issues on production lines and recommend improvements.
• Ensure packaging meets food safety regulations, legal labelling requirements, and environmental standards.
• Liaise with packaging suppliers to source materials and manage specifications.
• Evaluate supplier performance and ensure quality standards are met.
• Maintain accurate packaging specifications and artwork approvals.
• Support audits and customer documentation requests relating to packaging specifications.
• Circulate and manage the artwork approval process.

Qualifications

• Experience in packaging development, ideally within FMCG or food/confectionery.
• Familiarity with packaging materials and artwork processes.
• Basic understanding of packaging legislation and sustainability considerations.
• Experience using Valpak (desirable).
• Good computer literacy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.Willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge.
• Collaborative and proactive approach.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
