We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Swinfen Hall, working as an Outreach and Distance Learning Teacher. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37hrs per week.

Site Information

HMP Swinfen Hall is a category C prison for young adult and adult men located south of Lichfield near the village of Swinfen in Staffordshire. The key aim of the prison is to provide education, vocational training, and comprehensive support services to prepare inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Achieve performance and quality targets
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting
  • Demonstrate positive team working
  • Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
  • Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities
  • Have experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
  • Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
  • A good track record achieving of quality targets
  • Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
