Description

ActiveFence is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Organized Crime Researcher. You will play a pivotal role in conducting research on online abuses such as recruitment into organized crime, evolving tactics of online criminal networks, trafficking illegal goods, and criminal exploitation. Your responsibilities include managing and developing our internal knowledge base, conducting online research, writing intelligence briefings and reports, and ensuring high standards of research quality. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze data, generate insights, and propose proactive strategies to address emerging issues. If you have an interest in organized crime, strong research and analytical skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Online Research: Conduct in-depth research on organized crime groups and online criminality, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to uncover insights. Develop and improve research methodologies and frameworks.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with engineering, product, and policy teams to address emerging issues and develop solutions.
  • Written Intelligence Briefings: Write accurate, clear, and detailed reports summarizing research findings, maintaining high quality standards.
  • Knowledge Preservation and Development: Stay updated on industry trends, threats, and best practices. Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.
Requirements

Must have:

  • Master’s degree (MA or MPhil) or PhD in criminology, sociology, or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Exceptional research skills for managing large-scale initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Motivated, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Desired experience:

  • Knowledge of the organized crime ecosystem is a significant advantage.
  • Experience with OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) is a plus.
  • Experience analyzing data comprehensively.
