A local educational institution in Gateshead is seeking one-to-one tutors with expertise in science to enhance their successful tutoring programme. The ideal candidates will possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have a minimum of 3 hours availability per week. Responsibilities include supporting pupils' rapid improvement in their studies, with sessions conducted both in school and online via Teams. This part-time role offers flexible hours and includes training and ongoing support.
Whickham School wishes to appoint one‑to‑one tutors with expertise in science to continue in our successful tutoring programme.
We have a proven system that identifies the needs of pupils and will support you to help pupils make rapid improvements. We will provide training and support before you work with our pupils, and you will be guided by subject teachers throughout the course of tutoring.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of each learner, and must have good core subject knowledge. You must be open‑minded, non‑judgemental, and able to build a rapport quickly to achieve the best results.
This role would be particularly suited to those who wish to have a degree of flexibility in their working arrangements. Currently tutoring takes place in school and over MS Teams during the evening or weekends.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake enhanced DBS checks.
Salary: £33.23 per hour for those with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

These roles mirror the national teaching programme and therefore are pensionable under the LGPS. The rates quoted include holiday pay.
