Job summary

A leading psychiatric hospital in the UK is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to enhance patient recovery and independence. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, providing vital assessments and therapeutic interventions. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Occupational Therapy, HCPC registration, and has at least 2 years of experience in mental health settings. This position offers a competitive salary up to £49,000 per annum with potential part-time hours considered.

Occupational Therapist

Location: Hertfordshire
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (Part‑time considered)
Salary: Up to £49,000 (DOE)

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist with a passion for mental health? Join our dedicated team at a leading psychiatric hospital, and play a key role in delivering recovery‑focused, person‑centred care.

About the Role

You’ll work with adults in an inpatient mental health setting, supporting individuals with complex psychiatric needs. As part of a supportive multi‑disciplinary team, you will assess, plan, and deliver personalised therapeutic programmes that enhance independence, promote recovery, and improve quality of life.

You’ll also contribute to service development across the hospital and provide supervision to junior OT staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete functional and occupational assessments
  • Design and deliver tailored, evidence‑based treatment plans
  • Facilitate both group sessions and 1:1 interventions
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to junior OTs
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, and support workers
  • Support safe discharge planning and liaise with external services
  • Contribute to audits, CPD activities, and service improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Minimum 2 years’ post‑qualification experience in mental health or a psychiatric setting (preferred)
  • Experience in group and individual OT interventions
  • Supervisory experience (desirable)
