We are currently recruiting for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our team at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse.

Cygnet Lodge Brighouse is a high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men. The emphasis within the service is on preparing individuals for discharge or to support with longer term optimal functioning.

Cygnet Lodge Brighouse can support up to 21 men in a relaxed, calm and homely environment. The focus is on helping individuals increase their independence wherever possible through work and education, as well as social and leisure facilities, offering a slower stream rehabilitation service where needed.

This role will involve working at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse to contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy department at the hospital. You will be required to provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs, under the supervision of a senior OT. To promote the importance of enabling people to do the things they want, need or are expected to do to support them being well in life.

The Occupational therapy department at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse has 2 qualified Occupational Therapists and 1 Occupational Therapy Assistant. Our environment includes a social hub, ADL kitchen, flatlet and other therapeutic spaces.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will
  • Hold a caseload and utilise effective clinical decision-making and clinical skills to assess, implement and evaluate care
  • Complete full assessments of patients’ occupational performance including areas of self-care, productivity and leisure
  • Implement specialist group and individual treatments to achieve therapeutic goals
  • Complete all necessary clinical documentation in accordance with the company and professional standards.
  • Be a source of professional advice relating to Occupational Therapy, to provide advice to individuals in our care, to carers and colleagues as appropriate.
  • To deliver an occupational focussed service, providing evidence based practice with recognised measurable outcomes to evaluate the value and impact of occupational therapy.
  • Support/ lead the supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, reporting relevant issues to Head OT, including sickness monitoring and time management.
The Successful Candidate should be/have:
  • An awareness and understanding of different mental health conditions
  • An awareness and understanding of the nature of a secure ward environment and the risks associated with this.
  • Experience of facilitating groups and activities
  • Able to work independently
  • Effective communication skills, good organisations skills and a positive attitude
  • An Occupational Therapy degree and registration with HCPC

Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
