Job Overview

A rare opportunity has arisen in Salford for an Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Community Adult Learning Disability Team. Band 5. Employment type: Full‑time.

Location: Salford, Greater Manchester, England, United Kingdom.

Responsibilities and duties
  • Carry out holistic Occupational Therapy assessments of individual needs and develop, implement, and evaluate treatment programmes for a designated caseload.
  • Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team supporting adults with a learning disability in the community.
  • Evaluate, adopt or adapt communication methods as appropriate to educational, social background or identified barriers including language disorders and cognitive problems.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate assessment and treatment records in line with legal and departmental requirements.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of clinical governance and risk management, and put into practice with guidance.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessment, including for those with a complex presentation and chronic long‑term conditions through observation, discussion, activity analysis and the use of Occupational Therapy assessment tools.
  • Maintain own continuing professional development evidenced by portfolio, seeking guidance and utilising supervision from seniors.
Person specification
Qualifications
  • BSc or MSc Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
Professional registration
  • Registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC.
Desirable criteria
  • Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapy.
Knowledge, training & experience
  • Successful completion of pre‑registration student placements.
  • Evidence of understanding the OT process.
