Job description

Ifield School is looking to appoint two Nursery Outreach Practitioners. The successful candidates will be travelling to provide support to children with Special Educational Needs and Practitioners within Early Years settings across the Gravesham District reporting to The Cedar Federation’s Nursery Outreach Lead.

Hours of the role are 08.30am to 4.00pm, with a 30-minute break for lunch, Monday to Friday, Term Time only.

The role will include some commitments after 4pm paid at an overtime rate.

Previous experience of working within a similar role or knowledge of the role within schools or Early Years settings is desired.

Main Role and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • To model good practice and strategies as recommended by Nursery Outreach Lead in mainstream Early Years settings.
  • To work with children individually and in small groups to model best practice to Nursery staff. This may include supporting the most complex children onsite at the nursery setting based within The Cedar Federation and supporting pupils in classes on roll at Ifield School in order to continue gaining SEND experience.
  • Provide nursery setting lead with detailed feedback related to progress and development.
  • Attend specialist intervention review meetings and/or Joint Assessment Meetings with parents and professionals, as required.
  • To support Early Years practitioners to enable children with SEND to achieve the best outcomes.
  • To assist settings with Personalised Plan strategies.
  • To review Personalised Plan outcomes, short term targets and strategies with The Cedar Federation’s Nursery Outreach Lead regularly.
  • To provide feedback to the Nursery Outreach Lead and settings practitioners.
  • To maintain subject knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, current processes and SEND strategies.
  • Contribute towards individual childrens’ outcomes and strategies.
  • Observe, monitor and record the progress of children, using the appropriate format as advised by The Cedar Federation’s Nursery Outreach Lead including childrens’ safeguarding, learning, behaviour, wellbeing (including liaising with Therapists) as directed in order to support the delivery of the specific strategies, interventions and recommendations.
