About the Role: Community Oncology Nurse

As a Community Oncology Nurse, you’ll provide safe, compassionate care to patients receiving SACT in their own homes. You’ll work autonomously while collaborating with cancer consultants, CNSs, pharmacists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver expert, holistic care.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Administering SACT safely and competently in the patient’s home
  • Pre‑chemotherapy blood sampling and monitoring of treatment responses
  • Safe management of IV therapy and central venous access devices (Port‑a‑Cath, PICC lines)
  • Monitoring patient conditions, updating records, and escalating concerns promptly
  • Providing emotional support, guidance, and practical advice to patients and families
  • Participating in MDTs, handovers, and clinical governance activities
  • Promoting health, wellbeing, and patient independence throughout the treatment pathway
You’ll Need
  • Active NMC registration
  • At least 3 years post‑registration experience
  • Competence in venepuncture, cannulation, and IV drug administration
  • Experience with central venous catheters (Port‑a‑Cath, PICC)
  • Experience in oncology/SACT nursing essential
  • Community or home‑based nursing experience desirable
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
