Please note – This role requires the selected candidate to hold UK Government Clearance to SC level or be eligible for it. This role also requires you to work on a shift pattern (days / nights).

What this job matters

The Networks Security Specialist (Shift Lead) exists to provide specialist technical support on complex network security and cyber security deployments for any and all of our UK secure contracts. You’ll build intimate working relationships and trust through effective communication and meeting expectation and deadlines is key, whilst liaising with customer representatives or vendors and directing other support staff where appropriate will form part of the role. Additionally, you’ll be supporting new products and services that are an important part of keeping pace with the industry and customer requirements, which allows BT to maintain market position as key supplier of services. The Networks Security Specialist (Shift Lead) will therefore be expected to provide support in this area, working with confidence and initiative and applying excellent self management in order to promote successful outcomes. What you’ll be doing

1. Providing leadership on Agile / ITIL processes, acting as a decision maker within the security team, whilst advising on best practices and supporting from a 3rd line lead perspective; this will also involve organising shift patterns
2. Developing peers and colleagues within the team through mentoring and leadership providing trustworthy, honest feedback
3. Producing and supporting polices, functions and configuration builds to allow implementation of customer projects
4. Completing and owning integration testing on new products and services, producing all relevant supporting documentation
5. Ensuring full awareness of the need to safeguard sensitive customer information at all times, so that customers perceive BT to be a trustworthy organisation.

What we’d like to see on your CV

1. External professional accreditation in the network service field, from vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.
2. Ability to simplify complex ideas and communicate them clearly
3. Significant knowledge and understanding of networks and networks security to 3rd line level
4. Experience in Security Operations from a 3rd Line perspective
5. If not already held, to be able to obtain SC/NPPV3/MET level security clearances (mandatory)
