Job summary

A global logistics company based in Greater London is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to manage and support firewall environments and configure cloud-managed Wi-Fi infrastructure. Ideal candidates will have over 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure with strong knowledge of networking protocols. Responsibilities include diagnosing network issues and supporting the implementation of SD-WAN architectures among other tasks. This role offers opportunities for mentorship and participation in large-scale projects.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure, with a focus on network engineering.
  • Relevant network certifications are desired but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and VoIP.

Job description
  • Manage and support next-generation firewall environments (FortiGate) using centralized tools like FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer
  • Configure and support Ruckus Wireless infrastructure, including cloud-managed Wi‑Fi platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of BGP, OSPF, IPsec VPN, DMVPN, NAT, QoS, VoIP, and wireless protocols
  • Support and implement SD-WAN architectures (Fortinet preferred, or equivalent like Cisco Meraki, Versa, or Palo Alto Prisma)
  • Proactively monitor network health using tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG, or other observability platforms
  • Diagnose, analyze, and resolve network issues with a focus on performance, security, and availability
  • Design and deploy redundant, fault‑tolerant enterprise data, voice, and video networks
  • Ensure secure and efficient data transfer across hybrid environments, including cloud (AWS/Azure) and remote sites
  • Document network architecture, processes, and changes using Visio, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation and elevate critical incidents as needed
  • Triage and resolve incidents and requests using Jira or other ITSM platforms
  • Mentor and support junior Network Admins and cross‑functional teams
  • Lead or contribute to large‑scale networking projects, from planning through deployment, and present solutions to stakeholders
  • Assist with compliance efforts (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2) and security audits
  • Travel as required
  • Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Job requires the ability to use vision, adjust focus and work on a standard computer screen
  • Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment
  • Use of audio‑visual equipment is required.
  • Talking, hearing, and using hands to operate computer equipment

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Hands on and deployment experience on NGFW Devices like FortiGate
  • Communication, presentation, and effective client interaction ability
  • Desired skills include an understanding of networking such as switching, routing, firewalls.
  • Produce and maintain excellent documentation.
  • Good communication oral and written skills
  • Microsoft Windows Server operating systems
  • Proficient with backup and restore technologies and best practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years’ experience in related IT infrastructure
  • Network Certification desired but not required.
  • 3+ years Network Engineering experience required
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES

Professional certification may be required in some areas.
