Belcan are looking for an experienced Senior Naval Architect and a Naval Architect to join our current team, based in Glasgow that is built around many years of marine experience, designing, analysing, approving, and delivering an excellent engineering service to our clients.

Our Naval Architects are essential for their support through the whole design lifecycle (concept to production) for a variety of vessels. The Naval Architects day-to-day responsibilities will depend on their level of experience as the roles will include supporting a variety of commercial and defence ship building and floating offshore projects, that can be from conceptual design.

We are looking for candidates who can interact well with both internal and external stakeholders to communicate technical issues and support team leaders to refine their approach on timescales, hours associated with tasks and the interaction with customers on technical focal points as required.

The Naval Architects can be involved with Stability Analysis, Hull form creation, build planning and vessel modification and will need to have some experience in some of these areas.

Education and Experience

• Suitably Degree Qualified in Naval Architecture
• It is essential that you are proficient in the use of Hand Calculations for stress analysis and CAD software design packages and toolsets such as, PTC Windchill, Siemens NX, ShipConstructor SSI, Foran, Paramarine, Ansys or similar).
• Excellent knowledge and experience of working with industry standard rules and regulations, legislation and guidance.
• Previous experience in vessel surveying and reporting is essential
• Previous experience in shipyard on-site support from minor repair to newbuild would be
• Microsoft Office Suite
