As a Modular Operative (Specialist), you will assemble, refurbish, and fit out modular buildings in our depots and, when required, support installation on customer sites. You’ll complete joinery, basic plumbing, basic electrical tasks, and interior/exterior finishing to deliver safe, high‑quality, and ready‑to‑use units that meet specification, programme, and UK building and safety standards.

About You!
- Proven experience in modular buildings, portable cabins, property maintenance, or construction—multi‑skilled across joinery/fit‑out with exposure to plumbing/electrical basics.
- Experience reading drawings/job cards and working to RAMS/SOPs in a depot or factory setting.
- Desirable: previous work with leading modular providers, site installation support, or offsite manufacturing.
- Multi‑trade skills: competent in joinery, basic plumbing, basic electrics (within competency), sealing and finishing.
- Quality focus: able to work to tolerances, complete snagging, and achieve a professional finish.
- Safety first: strong understanding of RAMS, manual handling, work at height, and lifting operations interface.
- Teamwork & communication: able to coordinate tasks to meet build plans and support continuous improvement.
- Equipment handling: safe use of hand/power tools; FLT license beneficial.
About the Role!
Assembly & Fit‑Out:
- Construct and refurbish modular building structures in the depot from CAD packs / job cards, including wall partitions, doors/windows, ceilings, floors, trims, and fixtures.
- Carry out multi‑trade tasks: first/second‑fix joinery, basic plumbing (e.g., sinks, taps, water heaters), and basic electrics (e.g., fitting accessories within competency). Escalate to qualified trades where required.
- Prepare internal and external finishes: lining, insulation placement, sealing, prepping, painting/spraying, and vinyl floor laying to depot quality standards.
- Furniture and accessories: clean, stage and install furniture, sanitary ware, and welfare fittings to specification.
Quality Assurance:
- Follow company standards and work instructions to ensure all tasks meet required quality levels.
- Check your own work for accuracy and completeness before handover.
- Report any defects, damage, or issues promptly and assist in resolving them.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient working environment.
- Liaise with supervisors, planners, and logistics to hit daily/weekly build plans and OTIF targets; support toolbox talks and handovers.
- Work cross‑functionally with specialist trades (electricians/plumbers) and QC to resolve issues quickly and maintain flow.
General:

Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ):
- Follow RAMS, method statements, permits and PPE requirements at all times; report near misses, hazards, and incidents immediately.
- Maintain safe work areas in depot and on site, including housekeeping and waste segregation, to reduce risks typical in modular construction.
- Operate depot equipment (e.g., forklifts/telehandlers where licensed) to move cabins, materials and plant safely.
