Job description

Pike Construction Services is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to lead the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and commissioning scope for a high-profile project in Rochester. This position is ideal for a seasoned Mechanical/MEP Project Manager—possibly someone coming from a recently acquired or transitioning firm—who excels at bringing complex building systems from installation through startup and turnover.

This role functions as the overall MEP lead, ensuring seamless coordination with the on‑site commissioning agent, design teams, trade partners, and internal project leadership. You will be responsible for system readiness, closeout of observations, startup activities, and identifying opportunities for process improvement and project betterment throughout execution.
Regular QA/QC spot checks on rough‑ins and periodic system installations will also be a key focus area, ensuring quality standards are maintained and verified throughout each phase of construction.

You will also carry the traditional responsibilities of a Project Manager II at Pike (scope up to $50M), including client communication, financial oversight, scheduling, safety awareness, quality compliance, and driving project outcomes in alignment with Pike’s PCMB leadership model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary MEP point of contact for the project.
  • Coordinate closely with the on‑site Commissioning Agent to ensure all systems, observations, and corrective actions are fully addressed, documented, and closed.
  • Oversee MEP system startup, ensuring readiness, sequencing, safety, and alignment across all disciplines.
  • Review the master schedule and lead look‑ahead planning with MEP subcontractors to ensure milestone compliance.
  • Perform QA/QC spot checks on rough‑ins and conduct periodic verification of system installations to ensure quality and conformance to design.
  • Analyze MEP sequencing and phasing to identify opportunities for efficiency, improved performance, or cost/budget betterment.
  • Work directly with individual MEP firms to resolve design gaps, field conflicts, or technical issues.
  • Ensure all MEP‑related RFIs, submittals, and closeout documentation are complete, accurate, and timely.
Project Management (PM II Core Responsibilities)
  • Manage schedule, budget, subcontractor buyout, and financial performance of assigned scopes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements and walk the jobsite regularly to assess conditions.
  • Lead job meetings with MEP trades, project teams, owners, architects, and engineers.
  • Maintain accurate communication logs, meeting minutes, and documentation.
  • Manage change orders, cash flow, billing, projections, and owner communication.
  • Support warranty obligations and ensure a seamless closeout package upon project completion.
  • Foster strong working relationships through Pike’s PCMB Leadership, Ownership, Candor & Problem Solving, Collaboration, and Authenticity values.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR 10+ years of MEP or mechanical project management experience.
  • Proven experience managing MEP-intensive projects, commissioning coordination, or complex system startups.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical distribution, plumbing systems, and building controls.
  • Experience working on projects up to $50M preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; scheduling and construction management software.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and client‑facing skills.
  • Ability to travel locally as project needs dictate.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
