Job description

Gray Healthcare is recruiting a Mental Health Support Worker to assist a male client diagnosed with treatment-resistant schizophrenia in the Lincoln area. The client lives independently and receives 1‑2‑1 support 24 hours a day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the client in daily activities, community outings, and engage in meaningful activities such as listening to music and DJing.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (male & female) to plan and review care plans and risk assessments.
  • Adhere to the client’s cultural and spiritual needs while ensuring safety and wellbeing.
  • Operate a mobility vehicle safely to transport the client to community settings.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Full UK Manual Driving License – Essential.
  • Social care experience, ideally within Mental Health, schizophrenia, and supporting individuals with COPD.
  • Experience supporting individuals with behaviours perceived as challenging.
  • Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.
  • Ability to adapt communication skills, verbal and non‑verbal, to aid understanding of the client.
  • Motivated to promote engagement in meaningful activity.
  • Desire to support the client’s cultural and spiritual needs.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Current Right to Work in the UK and at least 6 months of employment in the UK. We no longer have sponsorship available.
  • Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Working Hours

36‑hour contract, 3 × 12‑hour day shifts per week (8:00 am‑8:00 pm), with alternative weekend options.

Induction and Training

Initial week of online training covering induction, systems, and medication. In‑person training on PROACT‑SCIPR‑UK, a PBS approach, followed by person‑centred training specific to the client. Ongoing training throughout employment.
