Mechanical Project Engineer - Europe - 144859
Jones Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex mechanical engineering projects across various sectors. The role involves coordinating design, procurement, and installation activities, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with project specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, design, and execution of mechanical systems for a variety of engineering projects.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to manage material procurement and delivery schedules.
- Monitor on‑site mechanical installation works, ensuring they meet project requirements, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
- Support the project manager in tracking progress, resolving technical issues, and maintaining documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and review technical submittals, RFIs, and method statements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and timely resolution of issues.
- Participate in commissioning, testing, and handover processes, ensuring systems are fully functional and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and value engineering opportunities within projects.
Skills and Requirements
- Relevant third level qualification in Mechanical / Building Services, with minimum 3 years\' experience post qualification in a contracting environment essential
- Knowledge and understanding of HVAC Systems and A&ID’s
- Knowledge and understanding of Piping Systems & P&ID’s
- Familiar with use of project planning tools and inputting progress back into project master plan
- Familiar with use of BIM and operating Navisworks Models or similar
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office essential, plus use of large QA database systems such as Eida, etc, required
- Experience of typical project engineering functions, such as preparing technical submittals, RFI’s, etc
- Work closely with the site Construction Teams throughout the installation process, preparing installation works packs, etc.
- Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi‑functional team
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under strict deadlines essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary
- Data Centre experience advantageous, but not essential
