A leading asset management firm in Great Yarmouth is seeking a motivated Operations Mechanical Engineer. This role involves providing day-to-day mechanical engineering and operational support to offshore assets while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive offshore mechanical engineering experience and strong analytical and communication skills. Qualifications

About the Operations Mechanical Engineer Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically competent Operations Mechanical Engineer to join our Asset Support team, based in our Great Yarmouth office, with occasional offshore visits.

This role provides day-to-day mechanical engineering and operational support to offshore assets, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient maintenance and integrity management. You will work closely with offshore personnel, internal stakeholders, clients, contractors and Technical Authorities to manage mechanical risks, particularly Major Accident Hazards (MAHs) and Safety and Environmentally Critical Elements (SECEs).

A full job profile is available, but key responsibilities include:

  • Providing mechanical engineering support to offshore operations and maintenance activities
  • Managing mechanical maintenance and engineering risks, including MAHs and SECEs
  • Ensuring maintenance, modifications and engineering activities comply with legislation, company procedures and industry best practice
  • Supporting offshore crews with fault finding, defect rectification and technical advice
  • Acting as the focal point for mechanical discipline‑related offshore issues
  • Implementing, reviewing and maintaining planned maintenance programmes to meet statutory and vendor requirements
  • Preparing technical correspondence, queries, ORAs and deferrals for mechanical equipment
  • Supporting investigations, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Liaising with Technical Authorities to ensure appropriate approvals and specialist input
  • Actively promoting Process Safety Management and a strong SHEQ culture
Skills, Experience and qualities we are looking for
  • HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Professionally registered or working towards registration with IMechE or a similar recognised body
  • Extensive experience in offshore mechanical engineering and maintenance
  • Detailed experience with at least one major offshore mechanical system (e.g. cranes, TEMPSC, generators)
  • Strong knowledge of Major Accident Hazards, SECEs, performance standards and verification schemes
  • Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Good understanding of offshore Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Strong analytical, organisational and change management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexible approach, with willingness to travel offshore, attend meetings and training as required
  • Full and valid UK driving licence.
