This role forms part of the Maintenance Site Services team at Solihull and is responsible for carrying out both preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical plant and equipment across the Solihull estate.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Monitor plant, equipment, and process operations to ensure correct performance and implement improvement strategies.
  • Review product quality and output data to identify and drive Continuous Improvement actions.
  • Promote continuous improvement by applying enhanced maintenance methods and supporting the TPM autonomous maintenance programme.
  • Ensure full compliance with all health & safety requirements, including correct use of PPE and documentation.
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques and working practices to optimise performance.
  • Lead and coach group leaders to achieve departmental targets, while maintaining flexibility to change shifts, work overtime, or adjust start times when required.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Strong experience in mechanical repairs, fault‑finding, and preventative maintenance.
  • Solid technical knowledge of reciprocating and screw compressors, as well as site‑wide speed doors.
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems including gearboxes, chain drives, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Familiarity with company safety procedures, including COSHH, ergonomics, and safe working practices.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical plant engineering, building services, and a range of heating and ventilation systems.
  • Good understanding of QPS, WES, standardised work processes, and the TEM maintenance system, with advantageous knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Completed one of the following qualifications in relevant field to the role being advertised: Government Approved Apprenticeship, Craftsman Certificate, or a Level 3 in one of the following - BTEC, NVQ, OCR Cambridge Nationals or National Diploma.
