Based at our Grey Street office in Newcastle upon Tyne, the ideal candidate will have experience of design to construction with both design and hands on working experience of liaising with fabrication suppliers, construction and performing inspections, FATs. In this pivotal role, you will provide technical leadership to a team of Mechanical Engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will oversee design and constructability reviews, champion continuous improvement, and maintain consistency across mechanical drawings and outputs. With responsibilities spanning resource coordination, problem-solving, and mentoring, this is a chance to shape engineering excellence while promoting a delivery-focused culture. This new position offers fantastic development opportunities, making it ideal for a motivated professional ready to take ownership and lead with impact.## *You will be responsible for:** Responsible for the coordination and successful delivery of Engineering projects.* Working across all engineering projects, leading the day-to-day management of engineering across working with the Engineering Manager and Project Team.* Take ownership and provide technical leadership of a team of Mechanical Engineers in the successful delivery of projects, within the specified time, budget, to the specification and the required quality standards.* Assist with the co-ordination of resource to ensure engineering output is in line with project schedules.* Both broad and detailed continuous technical review across all projects of the mechanical engineering solution and engineering output.* Own and manage regular formal Design Reviews to ensure that mechanical engineering is: - + In line with specification + To agreed internal and external standards* Own and manage regular formal Constructability Reviews to ensure that mechanical engineering is: - + In line with specification and able to be manufactured to schedule and budget my IHC fabrication suppliers + Can be assembled and tested by IHC Construction Department on schedule and budget* Ensure consistency of quality, style and standard of mechanical drawings and a view to continuous improvement to improve efficiency.* Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues and challenges that arise during design to ensure that issues are resolved, and decisions are made for a clear technical solution and to ensure the schedule and budgets are maintained.***Job requirements:**** Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.* Experience of working in and leading a large engineering team.* Experience of Engineering Management including creation, input into and managing Gant Chart based schedules and budgets.* Experience of dealing with customers in technical discussions and supporting the project management and commercial teams in negotiations.* In depth knowledge and experience in design and manufacture of some or all the following: Trenchers, Cable/Pipe lay, LARS and bespoke Onshore and Offshore equipment is desirable.[](blob:https://royalihc.wd103.myworkdayjobs.com/a8428759-cea1-4492-95d0-fa47d7d4ce0e)0:00 / 2:55
