Job Summary

Based in our Manufacturing Centres of Excellence here in East Cowes, and reporting into the SCM Planning Manager, the Master Production Scheduler will be responsible for the management of the weekly Master Production Schedule (MPS) in order to balance demand & supply, and maintain 52 weeks visibility. They will orchestrate the cross‑functional MPS activities following the GKN Aerospace standard, including running site MPS meetings. They will also provide clear communication of enablement issues affecting MPS success, and be responsible for the generation and communication of MPS related KPI’s.

Job Responsibilities

Typical Responsibilities Will Include

  • Create and maintain schedules to deliver in line with Programme requirements while maintaining inventory targets.
  • Schedule production for specified products and production lines understanding all the physical and manning constraints.
  • Ensure that MPS is feasible and fully committed by the Operations Group Leaders; includes all phase‑in/out as well as new programmes development/prototyping; is based on agreed working calendar and includes all planned downtime (holiday, routine maintenance, line closures, etc.); is in line with materials and commercial enablement; production past dues are re‑scheduled weekly.
  • Manage input for Material Requirement Planning ERP system.
  • Proactively communicate/escalate to the management team potential MPS issues/constraints to trigger preventive actions in order to mitigate supply failure risk.
  • Support Supply Chain Manager in forecasting inventory levels in order to optimise/challenge current status and search for improvement opportunities.
  • Provide communication/feedback to Programmes in case of any supply issues and also in order to improve forecast accuracy including recovery plans where required.
  • Liaise with Programmes/Commercial to manage repairs demand into production schedule.
  • Ensure relevant KPI’s are monitored and communicated in a sustainable way (e.g.: Master Schedule Adherence, Customer Past Dues).
  • Support continuous improvement projects/activities.
  • Reschedule all production orders using mass or discrete scheduling process with data from production line.
  • Represent requirement of planning function in change management process relating to new parts, development parts or revisions to existing materials.
Job Qualifications

Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential
  • Good standard of secondary education to include GCSE (or equivalent) grade C/level 4 or above in Maths.
  • Experience of working within a supply chain or manufacturing environment, including data management.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of Material Requirement Planning (MRP), master data and processing environment.
  • Experience of inventory and capacity calculations, restrictions and analysis.
  • Demonstrated competent Excel skills.
Desirable
  • Material Requirement Planning knowledge within an ERP based business (we use LN Baan).
  • Proven experience of dealing with multiple departments across a business at differing levels.
  • Supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within the Aerospace industry.
  • Understanding of health and safety, quality, traceability and lean principles within a production environment.
  • Demonstrated advanced Excel skills.
