Job Description

Role: Manual Machine Operator

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture components precisely according to engineering drawings while adhering to all company quality procedures.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications to produce components within estimated production times.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
  • Work directly with a welder, ensuring they have the tools and materials required such as rods and grinding discs.
  • Maintain and replenish materials and consumables.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools to clean, buff, and deburr components.
  • Follow company health & safety procedures.
  • Set up machines according to job specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance, perform basic cleaning and maintenance.
  • Identify and report any faults or production issues to the Shift Manager.
  • Assist in quality checks, record keeping, and reporting.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of relevant tooling applications and machine tool capabilities, including determining tool feed and speeds for efficient cycle times.
  • Previous experience in a factory, production or manufacturing environment.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in a demanding role.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including willingness to work days, nights and weekends.
  • IDEAL: Hold a valid counterbalance license.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials, stand for extended periods, and operate small parts and materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good understanding of health and safety standards.
Working Hours & Compensation
  • 40 hours per week on days and nights, with a 32% shift allowance for night shifts.
  • Continent shifts: Day shift 05:50 – 17:50, Night shift 17:50 – 05:50; 4 on / 4 off (includes weekends and bank holidays).
  • Hourly pay approximately £16.23 (annual salary ~£35,467). Salary subject to experience.
  • Holiday allowance: 28 days per annum.
  • Statutory pension after 3 months of employment.
