Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities.

Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for continued maintenance of all breaking equipment for production.
  2. Responsible for Good Preventive Maintenance for total operation and work closely with all maintenance and sanitation department to eliminate needless down time of equipment.
  3. Handle all maintenance emergencies that arise, making sure that both quality and production are considered.
  4. Responsible for checking for high CAT.3 counts on Opti-breaker and making any necessary repairs or replacements including replacing cracker or counter on those showing high counts.
  5. Responsible for checking no-breaks machine 3 times a day and relay any out of specification mumbers to maintenance and doing follow-up check after being fixed
  6. Follow all SOP’s (Standard Operation Procedures) set for Breaking Room repair.
  7. Follow all SOP’s (Standard Operation Procedures) for maintaining proper air and temperatures to breaking rooms.
  8. Must complete all required check lists (no breaks, door security, eye wash, emergency lights, dock locks, etc.)
  9. Able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed or scheduled.
  10. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  11. Travel to and work at multiple locations.
  12. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. (LOTO, PPE, Confine Space, Forklift, SCBA, etc.)
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS

None required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Must have excellent reading ability of operation manuals and be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  2. Basic mechanical and electrical skills are a plus.
  3. Must provide some basic tools.
  4. Must be self motivated and work with minimal supervision.
  5. Must to able to safely lift 75 lbs. occasionally.
  6. Able to stand on hard surface most of shift.
  7. Ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs.
  8. Ability to be trained in LOTO (lock out tag out), Confined Space, Forklift, SCBA, and Hot Works.
  9. Log into the Trane Cooling system to Monitor operation and troubleshoot problems.
  10. Inspect and operate Ammonia Cooling System (HP only).
  11. Start up, operate, and shut down shell dryer. (Big Red Only)
  12. Inspect and adjust every timing point on Optibreaker.
