Job description

Join to apply for the Maintenance Operative role at Serco.

Full time – 37.5 hours per week.

Salary – up to £30,000 depending on experience & skills, plus Serco benefits.

Full UK driving licence must be held. Vehicle and tools provided.

Here at Serco, we work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services to assist individuals through the asylum system, which includes providing them with temporary accommodation.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all requested repairs, both reactive and proactive (including preplanned ones), are carried out to required standard and within SLA deadlines.
  • Manage own workflow and collaborate within the team as required.
  • Maintain Health & Safety of self and property users during and after works.
  • Purchase and manage materials using a company account card and approved Serco suppliers only.
  • Inspect and keep company vehicles in a professional, clean condition.
  • Work on a flexible schedule: Mon‑Fri, 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 18:00.
  • Participate in on‑call duties, providing 24/7 emergency cover on a rota basis, approximately once every 8‑10 weeks.
  • Travel within the region and occasionally within the UK.
Qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Previous maintenance experience in fields such as joinery, fitting, plumbing, painting, or decorating.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK.
  • Subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office.
