Maintenance Operative

Job Type

Full time – 37.5 hours per week.

Compensation

Salary – up to £30,000 depending on experience & skills, plus Serco benefits.

Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence must be held. Vehicle and tools provided.
  • Fitness to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK.
  • Security clearance checks and Home Office approval.
  • Ability to purchase and manage materials using a company account card from approved Serco suppliers.
Responsibilities

Here at Serco, we work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services to assist individuals through the asylum system, which includes providing them with temporary accommodation.

As the Maintenance Operative your role is key in ensuring all requested repairs – both reactive and proactive, including those pre‑planned by the manager – are carried out to the required standard and within our SLA deadlines.

You will be a highly motivated individual who can manage your own workflow as well as work within a team when necessary.

As a Maintenance Operative you will be responsible for the Health & Safety of yourself and that of all users of the property during, and after works have been undertaken and completed.

Vehicles will be inspected regularly and kept in a professional, clean condition. Work will be conducted using provided vehicle, fuel card and tools.

Working Hours & Flexibility
  • Mon to Fri 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 18:00 to meet operational needs.
  • On‑call duties on a rota basis – once every 8‑10 weeks for emergencies.
