Job summary

A leading specialty chemicals producer is seeking a Maintenance Manager to manage maintenance activities at their Middlesbrough site. The role involves ensuring safety compliance, developing maintenance programmes, and leading a team. Ideal candidates should have a degree in Engineering and strong leadership skills. Job title

Maintenance Manager M/F/D

Position Context

To manage all maintenance activities across the Middlesbrough & Billingham sites and ensure that they are efficiently planned, scheduled and executed safely in line with agreed work plans, safety management systems and best working practices in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and Business Objectives.

Work to continually optimise the performance of plant assets in partnership with the Reliability & Asset Integrity Strategy Manager and Operations and Engineering departments.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee investigations of incidents/near misses.
  • Ensure legislative compliance with LOLER, DSEAR & PUWER.
  • Attend regular EH&S meetings and technician toolbox talks and ensure progress is made on actions arising regarding maintenance.
  • Develop and implement site-wide maintenance programmes.
  • Performance Manage the Maintenance supervision group.
  • Communicate and reinforce Company policies and strategy to maintenance and support personnel.
  • Ensure Maintenance store is established and controlled.
  • Establish and update a suite of Maintenance procedures.
  • Establish and manage the annual maintenance budget.
  • Develop compliance, performance and spend KPI reports, reviewing and acting on results.
  • Work with Purchasing to regularly review service providers for safety, value and quality.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance records are kept up to date to facilitate data analysis for reliability improvements.
  • Manage annual service agreements, resolving renewal issues and working with Purchasing to achieve best value.
  • Provide as required to breakdowns / tasks.
  • Review and monitor compliance with safe work systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Provide project management support to the sites which includes:
    • Working with the Reliability Manager to support key maintenance projects, typically outside of the scope of day to day maintenance.
    • Work with the Projects & Engineering Manager to support the Projects team for some capital projects.
  • Liaise with HR department to establish appropriate training & development plans for Maintenance personnel.
Required skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strong safety leadership.
  • Needs to be fully conversant with Health and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry including COSHH and COMAH Regulations.
  • Experience on a Top Tier COMAH site preferred.
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Instrumentation or Electrical).
  • Relevant experience in a similar position.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a complete understanding of strategic maintenance planning and turnaround activities.
