Job description
Overview

Safe Intelligence is on a mission to make AI safe and reliable for anyone to use. We are looking for Machine Learning Specialists to help customers with ML validation challenges and to provide insights that drive our product forward for high-stakes machine vision problems.

The focus is on ML-based computer vision in high-stakes applications in Aviation, Mobility, Robotics and Edge Devices, with emphasis on object detection and tracking. The role involves customer and user-facing work on real-world problems to help ML teams improve model quality, while working closely with the Safe Intelligence R&D team to improve tools based on challenges in your domain of expertise.

Previous contributions to state-of-the-art machine vision models, including object detectors, are required. Knowledge of ML verification is not required, but a solid understanding of existing testing practices, metrics, and current training and validation methods is essential.

We look forward to having you on board.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with customers and end-users to understand their machine vision models and help them assess performance, including R&D and product teams at customer organizations in Aviation, Mobility, Robotics, and Edge Devices.
  • Implement prototypes, use cases, and solutions that apply Safe Intelligence methods to address user-specific problems in deep validation and robustness for machine vision in the specified domains.
  • Conduct experiments to evaluate approaches and weigh trade-offs.
  • Coordinate with research and platform teams to guide future development based on use-case challenges.
  • Contribute to developing an efficient and scalable package for verifying and robust learning.
Requirements
  • Previous scientific and engineering contributions to machine vision problems such as object detection or tracking, typically evidenced by first-author papers in top computer vision conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV).
  • In-depth experience training, evaluating and deploying state-of-the-art Machine Vision models, including architectures such as YOLO, Vision Transformers, and Eva.
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders to understand requirements and guide what is possible or desirable in a model.
  • Familiarity with Python and common data science/machine learning libraries (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Familiarity with best practices in ML workflows and MLOps tools.
  • Fluency with validation and evaluation frameworks and metrics for ML (e.g., Accuracy, Recall, F1, IoU).
Additional beneficial experience
  • Experience in the Aviation, Mobility, Edge Devices, and/or Robotics industries.
  • Experience deploying ML solutions in industrial, real-world settings.
Personal qualities
  • Passionate about helping engineering teams achieve AI/ML goals.
  • Comfortable and energized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excited to collaborate and solve problems with others.
  • Technical and committed to continuous learning.
  • Clear and efficient communication with developers, customers, researchers, partners and executives.
  • Hands-on with technology and execution.
  • Knowledgeable about modern software engineering processes.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and driven for clarity.
  • Collaborative and respectful of others.
  • Honest, straightforward, and considerate of teammates.
