Responsibilities
This role serves as a key contributor within the Berkley Life Sciences organization, responsible for developing and executing a strategic plan to build, launch and sustain a new territory office that supports long‑term profitable growth of all products within the assigned territory. It serves as a strategic connector between US field underwriting teams and the UK, ensuring alignment, consistency, and momentum across territories.
Specific Duties (Strategic Alliance with the President)
- Develop and execute a territory start‑up plan, including broker engagement, compliance and underwriting protocols, client acquisition strategies, and brand awareness initiatives.
- Build foundational relationships with local brokers, agents, and industry stakeholders to accelerate market entry and drive early business results.
- Monitor and report on territory performance metrics (growth, profit, retention, new business), adjusting strategies to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities.
- Devise strategies and protocols to grow profitably during all market cycles.
- Responsible for account solicitation, risk selection and analysis including documentation, pricing and marketing of Berkley Life Sciences products and services for new and existing customers.
- Identify opportunities for account rounding.
- Provide technical support to producers and insureds.
- Stay current with all compliance, procedural and workflow changes.
- Work collaboratively with underwriting associate, operations, legal, home office underwriting and claims.
- Build and expand the underwriting team, fostering professional development and continuous learning to ensure sustained expertise and growth.

Qualifications – Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of underwriting experience, including products, property, workers compensation and automobile; claims‑made experience a plus, product liability experience a plus.
