A local community support organization in Tees Valley is hiring a Lived Experience Group Coordinator to lead community engagement initiatives aimed at improving health and social care services. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in community engagement and a passion for supporting local people. Lived Experience Group Coordinator

Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) is proud to deliver Healthwatch South Tees. They cover the area of Middlesbrough, and Redcar and Cleveland to find out what matters to people and help make sure views shape health and social care support needed.

They focus on ensuring that people’s experiences and concerns about health and social care services are heard and we speak out on their behalf to inform service development and ensure they meet the needs of local people.

We're looking to appoint someone with demonstrable experience to join our Healthwatch team as a Lived Experience Group Coordinator.

Job role:

To lead the development and delivery of the Lived Experience Group (LEG) as a central mechanism for embedding meaningful coproduction across Adult Social Care (ASC) in Middlesbrough. This role ensures service design and improvement are driven by lived experience and community voice, supporting Healthwatch South Tees’ commitment to demonstrating impact and value.

Community Engagement and Recruitment:

  • Actively engage with local communities to identify individuals with lived experience of health and social care services.
  • Target diverse participants to ensure representation of marginalised and underrepresented groups.
  • Build partnerships with community organisations, voluntary groups, and stakeholders.
  • Organise outreach events, forums, and discussions to raise awareness and encourage involvement.
  • Define clear roles and responsibilities for group members.
  • Provide training and guidance to build confidence and capacity.
  • Create a safe, inclusive environment for sharing experiences.
  • Develop structured meeting schedules and engagement opportunities.
  • Ensure members feel valued and supported throughout their involvement.
  • Implement accessibility measures (transport, digital access, communication support).
  • Offer emotional and practical support to enable effective participation.
  • Promote peer networking, mentoring, and collaboration.

Embedding Lived Experience in Decision-Making:

  • Work closely with Middlesbrough Borough Council to integrate feedback into policy and service improvements.
  • Use insights to shape local health and social care priorities (e.g., homelessness, learning disabilities, extra care housing, carers).
  • Ensure lived experience perspectives are formally recognised in decision-making.
  • Maintain feedback loops to demonstrate impact to participants.

Ongoing Review and Evaluation:

  • Regularly assess group effectiveness and refine approaches.
  • Encourage continuous learning and adaptation to emerging needs.
  • Gather participant feedback to enhance inclusivity and impact.
