Job description
Overview

LIFEGUARD - TRAINEE / QUALIFIED | £13.29 per hour

Nestled in the heart of our forest you will find the Subtropical Swimming Paradise. The pool area is heated to 29.5C year-round and open from 10am to 9pm daily, featuring a toddler pool, wave pool, whirlpool, flumes and wild water rapids. There are many activities available, including snorkelling, scuba diving and aqua jets.

Responsibilities
  • Be the main point of contact for guests in the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, welcoming guests in a positive, friendly manner and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements in the pool environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards within the Subtropical Swimming Paradise and ensure all company and legal requirements are met at all times.
  • For trainee candidates, attend the NPLQ course; the course includes full-time hours for 6 days with classroom sessions on lifeguard responsibilities, observation of pool guests, rescue techniques, and first aid/CPR.
  • Undertake a swim test if invited to interview, including diving into deep water, timed and continuous swimming on front and back, and exiting the pool without a ladder or step.
  • Undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check due to the sensitive nature of the role; the check must be satisfactory for employment to commence.
  • Able to reliably commute to Center Parcs Whinfell Forest (CA10 2DW) as the site is not easily accessible by public transport.
Hours of Work

Contracts up to 96 hours per 4-week period on a flexible basis. Hours and days may vary each week, but contracted hours will be received. Shifts run between 8:45am and 8:45pm, lasting between 4 and 7.5 hours, with alternate weekends. One shift per month may begin at 7:30am for training. Working hours include public/bank holidays and Christmas/New Year on a rota basis.

You must possess excellent communication skills and be friendly and approachable to provide personal attention and care to guests.

  • Ability to communicate with people from all walks of life
  • Ability to perform and remain calm under pressure
  • RLSS Pool Lifeguard / NARS Qualification – for qualified lifeguards
  • Friendly, genuine and warm towards guests and colleagues
Desirable Requirements
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Experience in Pool Plant Operation
  • Use of a Defibrillator
