The Private Client team, based in Lewes, provides expert, tailored advice to UK and international private individuals, multi‑generational families, high‑net‑worth individuals, entrepreneurs and business professionals. With an unwavering focus on client care, they offer a comprehensive suite of services, including wills, inheritance, powers of attorney, trusts, probate, estate planning and tax strategy.

The Role

They are seeking a highly experienced Legal Assistant with expertise in Private Client to join their dedicated team in Lewes. Key Responsibilities
Document Management
  • Processing audio dictation using BigHand
  • Typing and amending documents from manuscript or copy, including correspondence and legal documents
  • Opening, closing and archiving client files
Client & Communication
  • Drafting routine correspondence, including client engagement letters
  • Liaising with clients and third parties via telephone and email
  • Managing diaries and appointments
Financial Administration
  • Preparing invoices, processing payments, receipts and transfers, and resolving related queries
Records & Compliance
  • Creating and maintaining Will, EPA and LPA databases
  • Handling original Wills and Powers of Attorney
  • Maintaining Trust permanent folders
Legal Searches
  • Conducting Land Registry and Companies House searches
Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous experience working as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary in Private Client is essential
  • Fast, accurate typing skills, including audio typing
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to follow procedural and legal protocol
  • A methodical approach and good time management
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
