South Croydon Swimming Club in Croydon is currently seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Lead Squad Coach to support our Head Coach and lead a squad of approximately 24 swimmers aged 13–17, with aspirations to qualify for County and Regional competitions.

We are a friendly, community-focused club based in the Borough of Croydon, affiliated with Swim England, Surrey and the London Region, and we provide training opportunities for local swimmers of all ages and abilities.

This role is ideal for a motivated coach who can support swimmer development, maintain good training standards, and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and performance-aspired club environment.

The Role

As Lead Squad Coach, you will be responsible for planning and delivering quality training for your squad, supporting swimmers through their journey, and working collaboratively with the Club’s coaching team and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate pool training sessions for your squad
  • Write suitable training sets (with guidance from the Head Coach where needed)
  • Provide technical feedback and skill development to all swimmers
  • Support swimmers at competitions, galas, and club events
  • Complete administrative tasks and maintain swimmer records as required
  • Provide coaching cover for other squads when necessary
  • Work closely with swimmers, parents, coaches and the Club Committee
  • Maintain safety, professionalism, and uphold the Club’s values at all times
  • The role will involve up to approximately up to 14 hours per week poolside coaching commitment.
  • Additional administrative hours and gala attendance will be paid separately at an agreed rate.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate (or equivalent – ASA Level 2 Coaching Award)
  • Swim England-approved Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to complete)
  • Ability to work a combination of evenings, early mornings, and weekends
  • Availability to attend competitions (as required)
  • Teacher's rescue certificate or equivalent (ability to obtain)
  • UK driving license desirable and the ability to travel to our training venues across the Borough of Croydon through independent means
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Undergo Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
