Position Overview

We’re excited to welcome three Software Engineering Leads/Architects to our London team to help drive forward our mission of building world-class software.

Life as a Lead Software Engineer

A Software Engineering Lead/Architect plays a fundamental role in shaping and delivering amazing software solutions to client challenges during discovery and delivery. You will partner with clients to understand the technical and functional challenges they are facing as well as develop implementation and delivery plans that take advantage of emerging technologies at scale. During client delivery you will collaborate with Solution Owners, Quality Engineers and Experience Designers to ensure that world class user experiences are understood, validation procedures are aligned and automation components are delivered.

Within our capability you’ll be seeking to develop and grow your skills, guide and mentor less experienced team members whilst advocating for progression of our capability on exciting frontiers such as Machine Learning and Generative AI.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead the development of robust backend services and APIs using Python, applying clean code principles and scalable software design patterns.
• Drive containerisation strategies for Python applications using Docker, and oversee orchestration via Kubernetes or AWS ECS/EKS to ensure resilient deployments.
• Engineer secure, scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, leveraging services like Lambda, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, and RDS to support high-availability systems.
• Establish and evolve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or AWS-native tooling, enabling rapid and reliable software delivery across environments.
• Implement comprehensive observability frameworks, including monitoring, logging, and alerting with CloudWatch, Prometheus, and ELK to maintain system health and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect seamless integrations between Python-based services, cloud platforms, and data ecosystems.
• Champion automated testing practices using Pytest and other frameworks to ensure high test coverage and support continuous delivery.
• Stay at the forefront of technology trends, continuously evaluating advancements in Python, AWS, and modern software architecture to inform strategic decisions.
• Foster a culture of inclusion and engineering excellence, mentoring teams and promoting well‑being, diversity, and collaboration across the organisation.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven track record in architecting and scaling backend systems and APIs using Python in production environments.
• Deep expertise in AWS cloud architecture, including hands‑on experience with core services and deployment models.
• Strong foundation in DevOps and infrastructure automation, with a focus on CI/CD, containerisation, and system observability.
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes, enabling scalable and maintainable application deployments.
• Proficiency in monitoring and logging solutions to ensure operational excellence and proactive issue resolution.
• A strategic mindset with a collaborative leadership style, passionate about mentoring, sharing knowledge, and driving engineering best practices.
