Qualifications

  • Must possess literacy and numeracy equivalent to grade C GCSE English and Maths.
  • Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 – PA6 required or willingness to work towards.
  • Must have recent experience undertaking a similar role.
  • Practical experience of operating machinery necessary.
  • Good command of written and spoken English is essential.
  • A full valid UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

Landscape Technician

Sanctuary Maintenance Contractors Limited (SMCL) is part of a not‑for‑profit organisation that delivers a high quality and cost effective property repairs and refurbishments, estate services, gas servicing and installation and maintenance service across the UK to both internal and external clients.

We are looking for a Landscape Technician to join a 7 person grounds team. The role mostly consists of working in pairs, with occasional lone working required to support an effective grounds maintenance service that meets agreed specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain estates in accordance with grounds maintenance contract specifications, applying basic horticultural practices.
  • Provide accurate and timely information on progress and advice, and ensure accurate daily work records are completed.
  • Respond positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations, escalating complaints as appropriate.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks.
  • Use equipment and materials in a safe manner, as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment and method statements and the manufacturer’s guidance.
  • Carry out all hazardous tasks such as spraying in accordance with supplier guidelines and in a safe manner, ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements.
  • Assist with additional tasks such as bulk waste clearances and garden clearances.
Skills and Experience
  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to grade C GCSE English and Maths.
  • Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 – PA6 (or equivalent) or willing to work towards.
  • Recent experience of undertaking a similar role.
  • Some practical experience of operating machinery.

  • Drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence; driving on company business may be required.
