Overview

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant who is dedicated to making every moment count, with responsibilities including maintaining the kitchen and pantry, organising supplies, and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly to meet the dietary needs of our residents.

Job Type: Part-time (9 hours per week) Duration: Permanent Schedule: Days (rotational shift basis that includes weekends) Shift: 08:00 - 17:00 Hourly Rate: £13.00

Responsibilities
  • To manage the “Cook Safe” system, adhering to policies for: probing food, fridge and freezer temperatures, food delivery, food storage, hot holding of food, serving of food, cleaning of the kitchen, labelling of food and personal hygiene measures.
  • To assist cooks with food preparation (e.g., sandwiches and salads).
  • To prepare vegetables.
  • To dispose of food and other waste appropriately.
  • To adhere to Food Safety policies to prevent infection and cross-contamination of food.
  • To keep the kitchen clean and tidy, according to the cleaning schedules; mop floors in line with infection control and Health and Safety policies.
  • To report faults and defects in catering equipment and the kitchen fabric to the Shift Leader/Manager.
  • To assist with cleaning of yellow boxes, trolleys, extractor fan and cooker, etc.
  • To put away food when delivered from suppliers, rotate stock to prevent old stock being left.
  • Attend mandatory training in Moving and Handling, Health and Safety, Elementary Food Hygiene, Infection Control and First Aid, as appropriate to the job.
