Job Title: Junior Installation Engineer – 3x positions available

Region: United Kingdom and Ireland (Field based)

We’re hiring for a motivated Junior Installation Engineer to contribute to the installing of Getinge’s range of medical devices and life‑sciences equipment including sterilisers, washers and isolators for use in hospitals, research laboratories, and pharmaceutical production sites in the UK and Ireland.

Getinge is a well‑respected Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) that saves lives through the manufacture and maintenance of a range of medical devices and solutions. This is an exciting role with full role and product training provided to the successful post holder, a field‑based role with frequent overnight travel, at an average of 3‑5 days away from home per week. You will have the opportunity to make a difference by utilising and building upon your technical knowledge and skills to ensure a safe and compliant installation of our equipment for our UKI customers, representing the business, and building relationships with customers and colleagues to deliver the best possible service.

Day to day responsibilities will include:
  • Setting out and rebuilding all types of Getinge equipment using General Arrangement, PI&D, electrical drawings and parts lists.
  • Carrying out any necessary removal of parts from the equipment and reassembly to meet access requirements with guidance from installation manuals.
  • Competence in safe moving of equipment using pallet trucks, skates or lifting aids.
  • Competence in the connection of site utilities steam, compressed air, water, drain and electrical supply using industry standard methods and materials.
  • Ensuring company equipment is used and looked after correctly and is kept in a safe condition, reporting all faulty equipment or equipment out of calibration.
  • Working safely and competently with electrical and mechanical equipment, power and hand tools.
  • Always observing and complying with company and on‑site Health & Safety requirements.
  • Reporting to the relevant Project Manager(s) and keeping them up to date with site progress and any problems encountered on site.
  • Filling in worksheets and installation checklists accurately detailing hours worked and travelled, problems encountered on site and any outstanding works.
  • Dealing with customers, always demonstrating first‑class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Building quality into all aspects of the work by maintaining compliance.
  • Undertaking any other duties as and when required.

What you need:
  • A full UK driving licence and passport, with a willingness to travel throughout the UK and overseas – essential.
  • Confident and able to work away from home 3‑5 days a week.
  • A recognised qualification (e.g. HNC/City and Guilds/BEng) in an engineering speciality such as mechanical or electrical engineering would be highly desired.
  • Experience in a previous engineering or field service role would be beneficial, but is not required.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Skills card CSCS or ECS card or equivalent would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to deal with customers, always demonstrating first‑class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Self‑motivated with a positive attitude towards working as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Problem‑solving, combining initiative with a practical and logical approach to all aspects of the job.
  • A positive attitude towards working as part of a team and on your own initiative, and a willingness to travel and work away from home.

The successful candidate must have a genuine interest in people and be able to deal with customers in a friendly manner, often within stressful situations, with the ability to be flexible to changes in workload and location which may be required with minimal notice. It is important that the post holder provides an excellent service on behalf of the Company.
