Salary: From £27,000 per year

Shift Pattern: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts

We are now seeking a highly motivated and technically capable IT Technician to join our team at our Trefelin site in Bangor. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands‑on IT environment and enjoys problem solving, supporting colleagues, and maintaining strong IT infrastructure.

The Role

As an IT Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our IT systems across the business. You will work closely with colleagues across Lab, Office and Site Services, supporting them with day‑to‑day IT requirements, maintaining data standards, and developing Excel/VBA‑based tools used across the business.

This role is essential to ensuring our digital systems operate effectively, especially as we continue to introduce new technology and improve cybersecurity and documentation processes.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

General IT Support
  • Installing and configuring PCs, monitors, printers and other hardware.
  • Providing first‑line support to lab and office staff for everyday IT issues.
  • Assisting colleagues with troubleshooting software and hardware queries.
Excel & Data Management
  • Maintaining and updating Excel reports and worksheets using data collected from Managers and Supervisors.
  • Assisting staff with Excel formulas, logic problems and data structure issues.
  • Ensuring consistency and high standards of data integrity across reports and digital worksheets.
VBA & Automation
  • Creating and maintaining VBA scripts for data transfer (Excel‑to‑Excel and Excel‑to‑MS SQL).
  • Supporting automation and streamlining of reporting processes.
  • Working with Quality Officers/Managers to maintain and improve Excel report standards.
  • Supporting IT developments as new digital products and cybersecurity processes are introduced.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Strong organisation skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including automation, API integration, and logic programming.
  • A mathematical or scientific mindset.
  • Enjoys problem solving and working methodically.
  • Ability to take responsibility for tasks and work to a high level of accuracy.
  • Positive, determined and willing to learn.
  • Experience with MS SQL or similar database environments.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure basics (hardware, networking, permissions, etc.).
