Software Development Manager

What you'll be doing:
Leading and managing a small but mighty team of developers and testers, bringing a blend of technical and functional skills to designing and delivering solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading a multi‑functional team of Software Engineers and Software Testers.
- Co‑ordinating ongoing development, stability and maintenance activities for in‑house software applications/solutions.
- Working with other development teams and partners to ensure overall initiatives are implemented cross‑functionally.
- Working across the business to ensure project delivery and providing accurate estimations and solutions to various business partners.
- Providing leadership and management to the Development team, addressing day‑to‑day staffing issues and coordinating development/maintenance tasks.
- Developing and testing reliable, effective and scalable solutions.
- Conducting business analysis with stakeholders and gathering requirements.
- Documenting requirements, specifications and release notes.
- Providing training, support and assistance to operational and testing teams.
- Remaining current on new developments within the developer community, evaluating applicability and driving rapid adoption.
What you'll need to have:
- 10+ years of proven software development experience using Microsoft technologies such as C#, MS SQL, Azure.
- Strong understanding of various software testing methodologies.
- Excellent ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Extensive experience maintaining and supporting software solutions.
- Understanding of OOP fundamentals, best practices and common design patterns.
- Experience working through the full software development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of database technologies such as MS SQL or similar.
- Hands‑on experience with source control such as Git.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum, Project Management, SDLC, ITIL, Data Security & Compliance and related frameworks.
- Led and directed small teams of software engineers and testers, contributing to learning development and conducting performance reviews.
- Comfortable creating, preparing and delivering presentations to multiple stakeholders.
It would be great if you also have:
- Prior experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (Azure DevOps or similar).
- Knowledge of Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Experience with both modern and legacy systems.
- Experience ensuring stability of legacy systems with a path to modernisation.
