Job description
IT Administrator

Department: IT

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Remote, UK

Compensation: £40,000 - £55,000 / year

SurrealDB is on the lookout for a hands‑on IT Support specialist with solid experience in a modern, Mac‑heavy environment. You’ll be a friendly, calm problem‑solver who enjoys helping people, takes pride in a smooth tech setup and is excited to grow with a fast‑scaling, global team.

This role involves owning the day‑to‑day IT experience for the SurrealDB team, both in our London office and supporting our remote team worldwide. You’ll look after our end‑user estate, deliver responsive in‑person and remote support and run device setup and onboarding. You’ll also help improve our ticketing and service model so IT support scales cleanly as we grow.

What you will do
  • Manage our IT estate consisting of Macs managed by Kandji, Google Workspace and OKTA SSO
  • Deliver in‑person and remote IT support for SurrealDB employees, primarily in London, with broader support across global remote‑based staff.
  • Manage end‑user device setup, hardware ordering, and workspace tech onboarding and other recurring tasks.
  • Handle walk‑up issues and manage requests through tasks assigned in Trelica (SaaS Management Tool) and Slack
  • Be proactive in refining how we manage tickets, with a view toward improving the service desk model.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the business
About you
  • At least 1 year’s experience in a first or second‑line IT support role (in‑house or with a Managed Services Provider)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills — ability to support colleagues from all backgrounds and technical levels
  • Confidence in support in‑office AV tech such as Apple TVs and Google Meet Hardware
  • Familiarity with tools and systems such as:
    • Google Workspace
    • SSO solutions such as OKTA
    • Endpoint management solutions (We use Kandji for macOS)
    • Jira / Atlassian
    • Working within security frameworks such as ISO27001, SOC2 and Cyber Essentials Plus (not essential, but helpful)
  • Basic understanding of hardware provisioning, license management, and laptop setups
  • Some exposure to Linux environments

We understand that each candidate brings a unique set of skills and experiences, and we encourage applicants to apply even if you do not meet every qualification listed in the job description.
