Band 8B, Full Time - Fixed Term/Secondment - 3 months (Maternity Cover)

This is an interim post to fulfil a Head of Fundraising role (maternity cover).

The post holder will require significant knowledge of fundraising and considerable energy and enthusiasm that will inspire the patients, visitors and local community to choose Croydon Health Charity as their preferred charity to support.

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Fundraising, the role includes strategic leadership of fundraising activity, financial oversight, delivery against KPIs, oversight of funded projects and grants, and line management of the Trusts and Foundations Officer. Significant senior-level fundraising experience, strong leadership skills, and knowledge of charity governance and fundraising regulation are essential; NHS or healthcare charity experience is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The Interim Head of Fundraising will, supported by the Director of Communications, be responsible for the delivery of the Charity's fundraising strategy, ensuring that income targets are met and charitable projects are delivered.

As part of this, they will ensure that fundraising ideas and events are in place that will have high profile and will generate funds to agreed targets. The post holder must be able to go out into the community, create and network with groups and individuals, offering high quality fundraising options and lifting the profile of the charity.

The Interim Head of Fundraising will also be responsible for supporting Trust fund holders to manage individual charitable funds, distribute grants from these funds and oversee the delivery of charitable funds initiatives and projects to improve the experiences of patients and staff.

Working closely with our own staff, community groups and corporate businesses, the ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality, keen for direct contact with people, be good at motivating and be self-confident as well as a self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.

Person Specification
  • Significant experience working in a fundraising role within a relevant charity
  • Experience of developing fundraising and grant-making strategies
  • Experience of managing/organising/promoting fundraising activities and identifying key targets that will attract support for the Charity
  • Professional fundraising Qualifications e.g. Cert IoF or DiM or equivalent
  • Experience working within an NHS charity
  • Experience supporting fundholders to deliver charitable projects
