Our Inpatient Care Support volunteers provide much needed support to our nurses who are caring for patients and families on the unit. If you are looking to make a difference or to gain some experience in a clinical environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Likely hours: 1 to 2 sessions per week, 3 to 4 hours per session
Our IPU care support volunteers provide invaluable support to our nursing team. They work with the team to ensure our patients and their families receive a quality holistic service. We are looking for people with previous carer or nursing experience who would like to use or develop their skills in the area of palliative care.
Make a difference: Give your time knowing that you are making a difference to patients and families at a difficult time in their lives.
Be part of a team: Our IPU team is friendly, busy, and purposeful, welcoming the extra support that volunteers offer.
Use your existing skills or develop new ones: This role helps to build on the caring or nursing skills you have in a very special environment.
"Being able to make a small difference to the experience of patients and their families at what may be a very difficult time is really rewarding."
Without the time our volunteers give to support all areas of our work, we couldn’t help all the families who need us. We have a wide range of volunteer roles with varying time commitments to suit people in different circumstances.
