Job description
Welcome

Are you tired of the standard, old‑fashion way of doing things in the construction industry?

Do you get deep satisfaction from making things run more efficiently using common sense and a bit of technology?

Do you care about proper planning and how the schedule connects to day‑to‑day delivery?

Do you want a flexible role that stays hands‑on in construction and industry improvement?

Sounds like a dream – it isn’t. It’s quite real! Read on.

We are Laminar Projects!

We are a high‑end project management consultancy and tech developer focused on upgrading how construction projects are delivered. We bring transparency and control through a mix of the latest technology, our own processes, and a big dose of common sense. We invest heavily in digital solutions that anyone can use to deliver better projects.

Our people are the core of everything we do. We recruit the very best, both in capability and personality, and design a new type of organisation that prioritises flourishing team members. We have grown from two people in 2017 to over 220 today, with a stable, repeat client base across infrastructure and complex building projects in the UK and internationally.

Core values for a good life
  • Grow yourself – your relationship with yourself
  • Care about people – your relationship with others around you
  • Execute to greatness – your relationship with your team
  • Build civilisation – your relationship with humanity and the world
Our vision & missions

We exist so every team member can flourish in a high‑impact community that:

  • Connects us with meaningful relationships
  • Inspires us to develop ourselves into better humans
  • Empowers us to pursue our own learning adventures

We enable that vision through two missions:

  • To fully digitalise construction for human civilisation
  • To create a new organisation that enables human flourishing while delivering positive societal impact
The Role
Purpose of the role

You’ll enhance delivery of the most complex projects through top‑notch project planning. You’ll devise strategies, translate knowledge into logic‑linked plans, analyse them with planning software, and use the plan to help teams prioritise.

Your team

This role is part of our Project Management Consultancy team, focusing on:

  • Understanding real project problems
  • Implementing best solutions
  • Developing scalable best practices, tools, and technology

You’ll work within the Project Planning Team, a leader in complex construction planning, reporting to a planning discipline director.

Your top three objectives
  • Make construction projects deliver near perfection
  • Create scalable, repeatable solutions to common problems
  • Develop yourself and everyone around you
Your top five responsibilities
  • Own the plan: Own and ensure adherence to the project plan, mitigating and managing delays commercially.
  • Own the outcome: Ensure the team understands and focuses on the plan.
  • Report and inform: Provide simple, actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Make scalable solutions: Develop scalable, repeatable best practices and tools with the team.
  • Develop everyone: Maximise personal and professional development of the team and educate clients.
Required qualifications
  • A construction engineering background: at least 2 years on construction projects, experience with project planning software and principles, decent Excel skills, and a strong interest in data.
  • Communication skills: proficient written and verbal English, charismatic influence to bring people to new ways.
  • Leadership capabilities: proactive self‑leadership and ability to lead others through questions and challenges.
  • Impact: track record of improving projects and organisations beyond basics, implementing scalable, repeatable solutions with significant positive impact.
Laminar isn’t the place for you if…
  • You want an easy, chilled‑out role without challenge.
  • You prefer to be the smartest person in the room.
  • You avoid continuous, honest feedback.
  • You prefer to work alone rather than in a team.

Major owners/operators and main contractors with project values between £1 m and £1 bn+ globally.

Where would I be working?
