Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Programme Governance meetings and manage the delivery of the Portfolio Plan.
  • Prepare for and manage Governance Meetings with Senior Stakeholders.
  • Prepare status reports and presentations to supervise delivery progress.
  • Identify and mitigate risks; ensure effective management of dependencies.
  • Collaborate with the STPM to evaluate solutions for portfolio constraints.
  • Communicate and maintain project management standards across the team.
  • Engage with Senior Leadership to improve portfolio management practices.
  • Provide updates to the central technology team on objectives.
  • Adapt to changing business needs and share knowledge.

Overview

Infrastructure PMO Governance Manager role at Tesco. The Technology Portfolio Programme Manager within the Infrastructure Team focuses on governance to ensure the portfolio drives strategic and business goals efficiently, effectively, and sustainably, with standardised portfolio control and stakeholder buy-in.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and facilitate Programme Governance meetings to approve and manage the delivery of the Portfolio Plan. Ensure a consistent approach to recording and monitoring all workstream risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring they are identified and tracked appropriately.
  • Work across Infrastructure Teams and with Senior Stakeholders to prepare for and manage Governance Meetings and follow up. Influence, present, and engage with a wide variety of Senior Stakeholders, leveraging political nous.
  • Prepare regular status reports, executive summaries, and presentations to supervise delivery progress. Operate within a best-practice portfolio management framework, knowing when to dial up or down your approach.
  • Identify and mitigate risk, driving actions accordingly. Ensure dependencies are effectively managed and call out risks where vital.
  • Identify constraints within the portfolio, collaborate with the STPM to evaluate potential solutions, and determine the support required to resolve them.
  • Work with the STPMs to communicate and maintain the consistent set of programmes, workstreams, and project management standards, guidance, and templates to be used by the programme team.
  • Identify improvements to portfolio management practices and effectively engage with the Senior Leadership Team to make improvements.
  • Work with the central technology team, providing updates on Tech Excellence and Strategic objectives.
  • Be agile in your approach, adapting to changing business needs.
  • Share knowledge and passion; know your stuff.
