About this opportunity

We are looking to recruit a new Infrastructure Planning Officer to work as part of the council's Sustainable Transport and Highways service.

Our team’s exciting programme of work includes
  • Prioritising and developing transport proposals for development and delivery
  • Transport appraisal and impacts assessment
  • Supporting spatial strategy and a new Local Plan
  • Shaping transport policies and projects to support economic growth and the environment
  • Technical advice on major cross‑discipline projects, including the council’s groundbreaking work as part of Team Barrow
Role Responsibilities

As an Infrastructure Planning Officer, you will be involved in leading projects to identify and develop infrastructure and strategies. You will engage with internal and external stakeholders, support work to secure delivery funding, and manage and work with technical specialists in external consultancies.

We are looking for people with experience and knowledge in areas such as transport planning, transport appraisal, town planning or project management, and who want to make a difference by improving transport for residents, visitors and businesses in Westmorland and Furness.
