Overview

Join to apply for the HV Technician role at M Group Water.

This role is within our MEICA and capital maintenance team. Our Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) experts provide a one-stop solution, including ongoing operation and maintenance services. The technician will undertake substation installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance activities across the DNO’s HV network (typically up to 132kV). Work must be carried out safely and in compliance with statutory regulations, DNO procedures, and industry standards.

The role holder will help ensure the safe and reliable operation of the HV network, including preventative maintenance, fault response, and asset condition reporting.

Responsibilities

• Carry out HV substation installation and fitting works in accordance with DNO standards.
• Assist with commissioning, inspection, testing, and maintenance of HV equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, busbars, earthing systems, and isolators.
• Read and interpret substation drawings, wiring schematics, and switching schedules.
• Support fault location, diagnostics, and repairs under supervision.
• Test HV equipment safely and accurately (e.g., insulation testers, VLF, Ductor, etc.).
• Maintain safety from the system using appropriate control measures, permits, and isolation procedures.
