Job description

We’re looking for a confident, people-focused HR Officer who loves building relationships, supporting managers and shaping a positive, modern employee experience. If you thrive on variety, enjoy being trusted with responsibility and want exposure to exciting change projects, this role has a lot to offer.

You’ll be the welcoming, knowledgeable first point of contact for our line managers, helping them lead well, solve problems early and bring out the best in their teams. Working closely with the Head of HR and alongside our second HR Officer (who focuses on HR administration, correspondence, data, MI & analytics, culture and engagement), you’ll help create a truly proactive, people-first HR function.

This role offers significant scope to make an impact, particularly through wellbeing, DEI, reward, development, our innovative RAG framework, and exciting hands‑on M&A experience as we grow.

Key Responsibilities
Support for Line Managers
  • Be the approachable, positive first point of contact for all people‑related queries, giving managers the confidence to support their teams effectively.
  • Provide clear, professional advice grounded in strong employment law knowledge.
  • Deliver HR Best Practice Workshops and supportive coaching‑style sessions that build capability and confidence.
  • Support and coach managers in preparing for and navigating challenging or sensitive conversations.
People, Culture & Values
  • Bring our values to life across the organisation, helping to create an inclusive, engaged and supportive culture.
  • Lead on DEI activity, identifying practical actions and driving meaningful progress.
  • Lead on creating our annual Wellbeing Strategy, designing initiatives and approaches that genuinely support colleague wellbeing and performance.
Proactive HR & Development
  • Lead our innovative RAG project, providing managers with a proactive framework for supporting performance, wellbeing, succession planning and career development.
  • Work closely with the other HR Officer to ensure people insights and data translate into action and positive change.
Reward, Recognition & Growth
  • Support the development and enhancement of our reward and recognition schemes to ensure colleagues feel valued and celebrated.
  • Help managers embed strong performance and development conversations and support effective talent planning.
Projects, M&A & Strategic Work
  • Play a key role in M&A activity, including due diligence, cultural assessment, onboarding and integration during acquisitions.
  • Run and support HR projects across wellbeing, DEI, culture, engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to engagement cycles, salary reviews, award submissions and key annual events.
About You
  • CIPD Level 5 (or studying / equivalent experience)
  • Confident communicator who builds trust quickly
  • Strong understanding of employment law and good judgment
  • Confident in coaching managers through tricky or sensitive people conversations, offering practical advice and calm, balanced guidance
  • Enjoys variety, problem‑solving and being a supportive presence for managers
  • Passionate about wellbeing, culture, DEI and proactive people development
  • Organised, positive and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Already have, or keen to gain experience in M&A and strategic HR projects
Why You’ll Love This Role
  • A varied, meaningful role with real impact
  • Lead on wellbeing strategy, DEI and innovative development initiatives
  • Exciting exposure to M&A projects and organisational growth
  • Collaboration with a supportive Head of HR and experienced HR Officer
  • A culture where ideas are encouraged and your work genuinely matters
