Responsibilities
  • Build relationships with clients to understand their needs and empower their voice.
  • Implement and monitor personal care plans in partnership with the client, updating plans as required.
  • Provide hands‑on care, including assistance with mobility, hygiene, medication administration and simple health tasks.
  • Use specialist equipment (telecare, mobility aids) safely and support clients in using it.
  • Act promptly in emergency situations, following the Council’s emergency procedures.
  • Record and document all activities in the client’s file accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to multi‑disciplinary meetings, sharing observations and supporting service improvement.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with the Council’s data protection and safeguarding policies.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential: QCF Level 2 (NVQ) Care or equivalent; commitment to completing the qualification within the specified timeframe.
  • Essential: Experience of caring with vulnerable adults, including home care support.
  • Desirable: Experience of domestic work (general housekeeping, ground‑cleaning).
  • Desirable: Training in health and safety, moving and handling, first aid.
  • Essential: Valid driving licence.
Skills and Personal Attributes
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in Welsh and English.
  • In‑depth understanding of the principles of providing care and the regulations of the care sector.
  • Strong initiative, problem‑solving ability and a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Awareness of specific health conditions and 2000 Act requirements.
  • Effective written communication – capable of preparing reports, emails and briefings in Welsh and English.
  • Empathy, dedication, reliability and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
Training and Development
  • Mandatory completion of QCF Level 2 Care qualification.
  • Attend required and relevant training sessions identified by the service.
  • Continuous professional development through supervision, team meetings and further study.
  • Register with Social Care Wales and maintain required training hours annually.

  • Pay rate: £13.26 - £13.47 per hour.
  • Holiday entitlement: 26.5 days pro‑rata per year (up to 29.5 days for staff with more than 5 years service).
