A leading maritime services provider is seeking a Highways Operative at Portsmouth Naval Base. Hours of Work:37 Per week
Salary:£33,000 – £36,000
You’ll be responsible to undertake reactive repairs to Portsmouth Naval Base and associated out stations, Roads, Carparks, and Pavements. The installation and repair of road furniture, barriers, signs, and bollards. The Installation and repair of inspection chambers and trenches including GATIC and Fibrelite Covers.
Our remit is up to 2mtrs of Lock, Dock and Waterfront Edges but, we’re regularly asked to assist with remedial repairs in these areas, such as core drilling for the replacement of jammed or damaged safety railings, concrete repairs, and tread plate repairs to access stair ways.
We are also asked to assist with project work, from lifting covers for preliminary inspections or Asbestos surveys to full installation of inspection chambers and covers, cable installations and trench work.
A good awareness of health and safety, safe systems of work and risk elimination and basic IT skills on mobile device to book time and receive work orders.
A Street Works qualification and demonstrate proven experience in street repair activities. This includes operating 360 excavator up to 10 tons, driving HGVs, using forklifts, and having the ability to tow. Additionally, you will have a background in minor civil works such as concreting, kerb and slab laying, and performing porthole and patch repairs in asphalt. Experience in installing street furniture and access covers, as well as carrying out repairs and replacements of barbed and razor fencing, is also essential.
You’ll be comfortable working in a team and on your own, taking initiative to identify issues while maintaining a strong commitment to Health and Safety with an understanding of HSG 47 and HAUC specification.
