Job description

Who we are

WTL Truck & Van Centres are Renault Trucks franchised workshops that keep Welch Group’s 80-strong diesel fleet moving and service some of the UK’s very first 19- & 42-tonne Renault E-Tech electric trucks. A £8 million flagship site at Duxford, plus fully equipped satellite workshops in Bedford and St Ives, give our techs dealer-grade tooling, ATF lanes and a direct pipeline to Renault’s brand-new EV/HV Training Academy.

Why this role matters

Heavy-vehicle technicians with high-voltage skills are rarer than hen’s teeth. You’ll be in the first wave maintaining eHGVs that prove zero-emission logistics is possible—while still keeping Britain’s diesel workhorses road-ready.

What you’ll do

  • Diagnose and repair HGVs, LCVs and Renault E-Tech eHGVs using TEXA & OEM software
  • Carry out scheduled servicing, MOT-prep and roadside call-outs (company van on night shift)
  • Complete HV isolation and battery-system safety procedures (full training provided)
  • Liaise with Parts & Service Advisors for first-time-fix efficiency and clear customer comms
  • Contribute improvement ideas—our workshop culture rewards those who speak up

The skills & experience you’ll bring

  • NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 in HGV or LCV maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Solid diagnostics & electrical fault-finding skills; HV / IMI L3 EV certificate a plus
  • Full UK driving licence (C or C+E beneficial)
  • Pride in right-first-time quality and safe workshop practice
