Job description

Overview

HGV Technician (Monday - Friday) at NRG Riverside. Location: Basildon depot. Salary: £51,760.25 per annum + Bonus + benefits. Rotating shift pattern: Week 1 06:30 to 16:00, Week 2 07:30 to 17:00, with a 30 minute unpaid break. 45 hours per week.

NRG Riverside is the UK’s largest municipal and specialist fleet hire company. We provide specialist vehicles on short and long-term hire, maintenance packages, and a portfolio of used vehicles for sale. The company supports growth and has a focus on decarbonising fleets and reducing Vehicle Off Road time.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine inspection and repair of internal and external customers’ HGVs within the NRG workshop estate.
• Carry out commercial vehicle MOT inspections, repair, and final preparation for MOT test.
• Attend breakdowns, diagnose issues, and complete necessary repairs to a high standard.
• Complete all compliance paperwork associated with the repair and maintenance of the rental fleet.

Qualifications  |  Experience

• Experience in a HGV Technician/ HGV Mechanic/ HGV Engineer/ Mobile HGV Technician role.
• Municipal experience including working on bin wagons/RCVs.
• Repairs and wheel alignment experience.
• HGV technical qualification – NVQ or City & Guilds or equivalent.
• Class 2 licence preferred.
• IRTEC accreditation preferred.
• Experience in a similar role with understanding of the HGV sector.
• Excellent customer service and the ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.
• Experience in the Waste/Recycling industry is advantageous but not essential.
• Health and safety awareness and practices.
