HGV Mechanic / Fitter required - Heathrow - Airside

Contract type: Full-time, permanent

Hours: Shift-based (including weekends and Bank Holidays) 3 on 3 off; days 6am - 6pm (Weekends 06.00am - 13.00pm).

About the role

We’re looking for a skilled and safety-focused Fueling Vehicle Fitter / Mechanic to maintain, inspect and repair a fleet of specialist HGV fueling vehicles. In this dual role, you’ll ensure all fueling vehicles are serviceable, compliant and maintained to the highest standards, and occasionally act as a Fueling Operator to stay current in aircraft refueling operations.

Key responsibilities
  • Carry out repairs, maintenance and defect rectification on fueling vehicles/HGVs and equipment to approved standards.
  • Complete and record all work accurately in the Blue Crystal system.
  • Conduct regulatory quality control checks in line with JIG QC manuals and safety requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workshop environment.
  • Operate fueling vehicles and equipment in accordance with all company and statutory regulations.
  • Support the commissioning of new fueling equipment and ensure vehicles remain service‑ready.
  • Perform vehicle pre‑use checks, reporting any faults or safety concerns.
  • Report and document all incidents, accidents or near‑misses as per company procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, management and airport stakeholders to ensure seamless operation.
Essential experience & qualifications
  • Significant hands‑on experience as a fitter/mechanic (commercial or heavy vehicles).
  • Knowledge of aircraft fuelling systems, vehicle mechanics and safety regulations.
  • Experience with vehicle or equipment quality control.
  • Eligibility to obtain airport security clearance and airside driving licence.
  • Willingness to work shift patterns, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
Desirable
  • Recognised mechanical qualification (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of airfield SOPs and workshop procedures.
  • ADR licence (advantageous).
